Raid: CTD arrests blast suspect

A bag containing improvised explosive devices weighing around 15 kilogrammes was also found in his possession

A member of a Sindhi nationalist party was arrested on Saturday for his alleged involvement in terrorist activities on Saturday.


The suspect, identified as Irfan Ali, was arrested during a raid conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on a tip-off at Mubarak Village, Mauripur.

A bag containing improvised explosive devices weighing around 15 kilogrammes was also found in his possession.

CTD Anti-Extremist Cell in-charge Ali Raza claimed that Ali, belonging to the Shafi Burfat group of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz, had been involved in various bomb blasts, including an explosion near a shop in Zamzama in April 2014 and outside two mosques in Gulshan-e-Hadeed and Gulistan-e-Jauhar. No loss of life occurred in these blasts.

Raza added that the suspect was also wanted for various cases of heinous crime.
