KARACHI:

The Awami Workers Party (AWP) Karachi staged a protest at Teen Talwar on Sunday against soaring fuel and gas prices and the war imposed on Iran by the United States and Israel.

The demonstration was attended by AWP leaders, lawyers, students, and representatives from other organisations. Participants raised slogans denouncing the rising cost of fuel.

The leaders criticised the government for passing the burden of inflation onto ordinary citizens while justifying the fuel price hike in the name of the Iran conflict. They said the sharp increase in petroleum and gas costs has worsened living conditions, creating widespread public distress.

The protestors also condemned the United States and Israel for waging war on Iran, claiming it has disrupted the global economy and caused the deaths of thousands of innocent Iranians, with dangerous repercussions for the wider region.

Addressing local governance, the leaders accused the authorities of prioritising lavish spending and complying with IMF directives instead of easing the financial pressure on citizens.
