Capacity building: Need for early childhood education stressed

Provision of compulsory education for age group five to16 is responsibility of state, under article 25-A of Constitution of Pakistan.
Our curriculum is disconnected and through revision we aim to improve its linkage and unite all provinces.
These views were expressed by Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Engr Muhammad Baligh ur Rahman at opening ceremony of a three-day training workshop on “Concepts and Methodology of Early Childhood Education for Low Cost Private Schools of Islamabad”.
It was organised by Parwaan E9 Early Childhood Education & Development (ECED) Centre of Excellence in collaboration with Ministry for Federal Education and Professional Training and Private School Network (PNS) Islamabad on Wednesday.
We want to create partnerships and would make resources available for private sector through National Education Foundation. We aim to cater to needs of child’s growth, enhanced critical thinking and incorporation of civic values through early childhood education (ECE).
Earlier Parwaan ECED Center of Excellence Aziz President Mehnaz in her welcome address said that there are no serious facilities and commitments for children aged zero to five.
There are approximately 70,000 registered low
cost private schools in Pakistan and they have not received support in capacity building and this is the first activity in this regard, she added.
Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training Additional Secretary Dr Allah Baksh Malik emphasised the importance of earlier years hiring highly qualified teachers by giving examples from international research.
He called for opening Parwaan centres in provinces too.
