SHABQADAR:

The political administration has lifted the ban on motorcycles in Ambar tehsil of Mohmand Agency.

The announcement was made during a jirga held at tehsil headquarters Had Kor Ambar on Thursday. Assistant Political Agent (APA) of Lower Mohmand Agency Sajid Nawaz and various civil and military officials were in attendance.

During his speech, Sajid said motorcycles will be registered with the political administration for security purposes.

The ban was imposed shortly after the military operation in the region in 2011.

“Security force officials have rendered sacrifices to ensure peace in the region,” he said. “Now that stability is gradually returning, it is up to the residents to ensure it remains under control.”

Sajid insisted the political administration has “zero tolerance” for militancy.
