All-parties conference: Shifting of cadet college opposed
The college is being shifted from Barikot to upper Swat.
SWAT:
An all-parties conference here on Tuesday announced to launch a protest movement against the shifting of the cadet college from Barikot Tehsil of Swat.
The participants of the conference opposed the proposed shifting of the college and demanded of the provincial government to start work on the project.
Former President General Pervez Musharraf during his visit to Swat in 2007 had announced setting up of the cadet college in Barikot. The college is now being shifted to upper Swat. And local people had given their land for the college at a throw away price.
They vowed to resist the move and render every sacrifice for this.
The conference was attended by local leaders and activists of Awami National Party (ANP), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Tehrik-i-Insaaf (TI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q), Jamiate Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) and Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP).
Barikot Teshil former president of ANP Adalat Khan told the Express Tribune, “We have called this conference to chalk out a strategy against the shifting of the cadet college from Barikot”. He asked all the elders and party members to give their suggestions.
Former member of the provincial assembly Maulana Nizamuddin said, the cadet college was announced by former President Musharraf after the efforts of the then MPAs.
“This is purely the provincial matter; therefore the members of the provincial assembly should stress the government to construct the college at Barikot, otherwise we will extend every sacrifice for it,” he warned.
The conference proves that these people love education and will never let anyone to deprive them of this right.
