The Faisalabad Market Committee on Wednesday announced that it would launch a crackdown against hoarders ahead of Ramazan.
A committee spokesman told The Express Tribune on Wednesday that more than 350 illegal godowns had been traced in the district. “Some wholesale dealers store essential commodities, such as wheat, rice or sugar, at the places to create an artificial shortage in the market,” he said.
“According to a report submitted by the Technical Wing of Buildings Department, there are 150 godowns of clothes, 125 godowns of wheat, 25 godowns of pulses, and 50 godowns of rice in the district that have not been registered,” he said.
