KARACHI:
Pakistan’s talented batsman Umar Akmal has been signed for the 2015 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), reported ESPNcricinfo.

The right-hand batsman is expected to join the franchise on July 3 after finishing his stint in the ongoing NatWest T20 Blast.

However, if he is named in the limited overs national squad against Sri Lanka he will have to leave the league for the five ODIs and two T20s. The ODIs will start from July 11 and will end with the second T20 on August 1. The CPL is scheduled to held from June 20 to July 26 this year.

Umar has been a part of the CPL in 2013 also when he represented Barbados Tridents. He could only muster up 49 runs from six games before he suffered a seizure on the flight to Jamaica. The Pakistan Cricket Board then called him back for a medical check-up.

Recently, Umar has been delivering well. He debuted for Leicestershire three days ago with an unbeaten 76 off 49 against Nottinghamshire. He also concluded the domestic Super8 T20 Cup in Pakistan last month with 216 runs off four games.
