KARACHI: Embattled Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt has rejected all spot-fixing allegations against him in his reply to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) letter containing the charges.

“We have sent a clear reply to the ICC letter in which we rejected all the charges against our client,” Aftab Gul, one of Salman’s lawyers, told The Express Tribune.

“It is a comprehensive reply of 40 pages, responding to all the allegations and accusations against the player.”

Gul added that the response was unanimously prepared by all the lawyers consulting the former captain in his case. However, which of the lawyers will accompany the player in the hearing, is yet to be ascertained.

Besides Gul, Salman has also sought the services of Khalid Ranjha, Aitzaz Ahsan, Shahid Saeed, India-based lawyer Yasin Patel and a British legal firm in a bid to seek clearance from the spot-fixing allegations.

The ICC appointed tribunal will hear the case of Salman, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir from January 6 to 11 in Doha.

Meanwhile, Aitzaz said a strong case is being prepared to fight for the clearance of his client. “Salman definitely has a strong case and we are hopeful of getting clearance for him,” Aitzaz told Express 24/7.
