FAISALABAD:

A man shot and injured his son on Tuesday in Athara Hazari, Jhang.

The Athara Hazari SHO said that Ghulam Sarwar, a retired soldier of Kot Shakir, had told his son Shoaib, a student of grade 9, to get up early in the morning. “The boy did not get up from the bed as directed by his father. Sarwar got angry and starting beating him.

The boy woke up and started running around in the house. This infuriated Sarwar further, who took his gun and shot Shoaib,” the SHO said.

“The boy was hit on the leg and fell down. Sarwar then hit him on the head with the butt of the gun. Hearing the boy’s screams, some neighbours came over there and rescued the boy. He was taken to the Jhang District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital,” the SHO said.

“No formal complaint has been lodged against Sarwar so far. Therefore, we have not registered a case,” the SHO said.
