Cyclone Ashobaa: Rain, winds expected in Thatta, Badin
the sea along the Sindh and Balochistan coast will remain rough
KARACHI:
Isolated rain and strong winds are expected in Thatta, Badin and Sujawal today (Wednesday), with tropical cyclone Ashobaa only 500 kilometres away from Karachi, the meteorological department said on Tuesday. According to officials, the sea along the Sindh and Balochistan coast will remain rough, with strong winds lashing the coastal areas in Balochistan till late Thursday evening. They said that the cyclone had progressed further towards the northwest and had moved towards Muscat, Oman. The spokesperson of the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum, Kamal Shah, said that the rough seas had led to several jetties in Ibrahim Hyderi being submerged by Tuesday morning. He said that most of the fishermen who had ventured out to the sea for fishing had returned when the weather became rough. “Hopefully, the remaining fishermen will also reach home safely before the cyclone hits.”
