QWP chief accuses K-P govt of double play
he said the PTI-led provincial government should declare election results null and void
PESHAWAR:
Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has lashed out at the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government accusing it of not wanting to resolve the opposition’s concerns about the alleged rigging and mismanagement in LG elections at the All Parties Conference (APC) scheduled for Tuesday.
In a statement issued from the QWP Secretariat, Watan Kor on Monday, he said the PTI-led provincial government should declare election results null and void owing to the alleged massive rigging and mismanagement that surfaced in almost all districts across the province. It should also stop making alliances with the winners, he added.
“The ruling party should stop playing a double role,” Sherpao commented. “Additionally, it should stop notifying the elected councillors immediately until reservations of the opposition parties are resolved.”
Sherpao said on one hand, the ruling party says it is convening the APC on alleged rigging and mismanagement so as to gain confidence of different political leaders; but on the other hand, party officials are striving hard to establish alliances with the winning candidates.
The PTI-led provincial government should not accuse others of using unfair means during the polls, he further said, adding it should take “sincere steps” and work together with political parties to resolve their issues.
