Today I have convened a meeting of health and finance officials to look into the matter
KARACHI:
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has constituted an inquiry committee headed by the Sukkur commissioner, Muhammad Abbas Baloch, to look into a story by The Express Tribune, ‘Ghost Hospital Running in Chief Minister’s Backyard’. “Today I have convened a meeting of health and finance officials to look into the matter and submit a report to the chief minister within a couple of days,” said Baloch. The finance department has been allocating funds to the taluka hospital, Khairpur, for the last three years in the chief minister’s constituency but there is no hospital under this name and the funds are being misused by officials. According to budget documents, a total of Rs63.5 million were allocated for the hospital in the outgoing year, as compared to Rs53.5 million in the previous budget in 2013-14.
