Cristiano Ronaldo's mum held at airport with €55,000
Dolores Aveiro held at Barajas airport with amount much more than the legal limit
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro was reportedly stopped at Madrid’s Barajas airport last month after she was found to be carrying €55,000 which is much more than the legally allowed €10,000, the El Mundo newspaper reported.
The 60-year-old Dolores, who spends long periods of time with her multimillionaire footballer son in his luxury mansion outside Madrid, was held by border police at Barajas after it was found that she had €55,000 in her hand luggage. Rules against money laundering state that €10,000 is the maximum amount travellers are permitted to take out of Spain.
She did not fill a form which is necessary to declare the transfer before being flown out of the country. The Spanish daily reported that she was held by civil guard agents at the airport and the excess amount was confiscated. She was then allowed to fly to Portugal with only €10,000.
Dolores is now going to be fined at least €600 for the attempt to illegally export cash if she wants to collect the confiscated €45,000.
