Historical trend: ‘US wants greater Indian role in Afghanistan’
PLF president says United States has double standards.

Peoples’ Lawyers’ Forum on Saturday condemned what they called were Indian conspiracies to sabotage the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor plan.
They said India was trying to sabotage the plan at the behest of the United States.
The PLF also announced a week of celebrations in south Punjab for the birth anniversary of slain Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Benazir Bhutto.
Addressing a press conference at Multan Press Club, PLF south Punjab president Habibullah Shakir said when India and the United States had signed an agreement over cooperation on civil nuclear technology in violation of the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty, Pakistan had not opposed it. He said the United States double standards in foreign affairs.
“The Americans imposed sanctions on Iran and did not bat an eye when India purchased oil from Iran for $12 billion,” he said.
He said the US had pressured Pakistan against pursuing the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project to address energy woes in the country. He said Pakistan had terminated the agreement with Iran under pressure from the US. He said the government should review its relationship with the US.
“Americans are promoting Indian hegemony in the region and are sidelining Pakistan,” he said.
He said Pakistan’s sacrifices in the US-led War on Terror should not be forgotten.
“More than 50,000 lives were lost in a war that was not ours,” he said. He said the US had used Pakistan as a frontline state against terrorism.
He said India had been historically preferred by the United States over many crisis.
He said urged the government to relations with US at all levels.
Shakir said the US wanted India to play a greater determined in Afghanistan.
He said this would have disastrous consequences in the region.
“Pakistan is linked to Afghanistan through a 2,200-kilometer long border,” he said. “Yet, Pakistan’s concerns are completely ignored.”
He said the Zionist lobby was backing Indian conspiracies against Pakistan.
Shakir said the PLF in south Punjab would celebrate the birthday of Benazir Bhutto for one week.
He said meetings would be held in tehsil and district bars from June 21 to June 28.
PLF south Punjab general secretary Sheikh Ghiasul Haq, Multan High Court Bar PLF president Mehr Muhammad Iqbal Sargana and Multan High Court bar PLF general secretary Mian Khalid Mitro were also present.
