LAHORE:
Administration officers will have to keep a watchful eye to ensure the implementation of laws governing tenancy, use of loudspeakers, and the distribution and publication of hate material, CCPO Capt (retd) Amin Wains said at a meeting to review the performance of administration officers at the Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines on Friday.

The National Action Plan can only be implemented fully if administration officers step forward and play an active role in building a relationship of confidence and trust among citizens, he said.

Wains said the appointment of administration officers at police stations was an important step towards providing citizens justice.

The CCPO appreciated the efficiency and polite attitude of administration officers posted at the entrance of the Gaddafi Stadium during Zimbabwe cricket team’s recent tour.

He lauded their efforts to provide best possible security on the occasion.

Wains said philanthropists set up charity organisations to give back to the society and earn God’s blessings for the world hereafter. “You are working for a department that has the potential to do so much for citizens in terms of providing them justice, keeping them safe and solving their problems,” he said.

The CCPO urged policemen to be polite and sympathetic to the citizens who visited police stations to register complaints. Addressing SHOs and administration officers, he said they must register cases within 24 hours, “or face departmental action”.

He said administration officers were especially valuable to the Police Department because they helped bridge the gap between citizens and law enforcement agencies.

They are the face of the police force and it is due to their empathy with citizens that the number of high-handedness complaints against cops has drastically reduced, he said.

Wains said that he hoped that the police and citizens could work together to eliminate crimes from the society.
