Hundreds of people held a rally in Tharparkar district’s Mithi to demand jobs for local residents in Thar Coal development projects. Represented by local leaders of nationalist parties and non-governmental organisations, the protesters complained that the locals are being denied jobs in the projects. They also expressed outrage against the delay in the resettlement of displaced villagers. The villagers were ousted from their villages due to the development works. Parts of Mithi also remained shut in protest.
