Punjab CM takes notice: Rs30m corruption at Nawaz Sharif hospital

A three-member committee was formed to investigate the alleged fraud of Rs30 million in the purchase of angiography machinery for the Nawaz Sharif Social Security hospital on Monday.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif constituted the committee to probe the matter and submit a report within three days, The Express Tribune has learnt.

On Monday, a meeting was convened and members of the committee discussed the mode of inquiry and examined the financial records.


The allegation was levelled by Provincial Minister for Labour Muhammad Ashraf Sohna. After suspending the director-purchase of the Punjab Employees Social Security, the minister sent a reference to the CM for further action against other officers involved in the misappropriation.

Sharif was pleased to constitute the committee for inquiring alleged irregularities and malpractices in the purchase of angiography equipment by the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution.

The DG ACE Kazim Ali Malik told The Express Tribune that the committee has examined the record regarding the alleged embezzlement in the Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital and a report will be submitted before the chief minister within the stipulated period.
