Lahore High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking cancellation of a bail granted to Maryam Safdar, being tried for killing two people in a hit-and-run accident.
Petitioner Hameed Masih, the complainant in the FIR filed against Safdar, submitted that families of the deceased were hurt by a lower court’s decision to grant her a bail on April 18 against a surety bond of Rs100,000.
He requested that the court that the bail be dismissed.
The FIR registered in the incident stated that the accident had taken place during a violent riot on Ferozepur Road following suicide attacks at two Yohanabad churches in March. Safdar was driving away from the rioters when she ran over a group of protesters, killing two and injuring several others.
