RAWALPINDI:

Residents of Dhoke Mangtal on Monday protested against the SHO of Ratta Amral police station for registering fake cases against them.

A number of residents gathered outside the office of City Police Officer (CPO) and demanded action against the SHO. The resident were holding placards inscribed with demands of quashing the ‘fake’ FIRs and return of money police had allegedly taken from a house they raided in Malik Colony of Dhoke Mangtal. Demonstrators also blocked the road outside the katchery and then staged a sit-in outside the CPO office.

Talking to The Express Tribune, protester Zulfiqar Satti said a police team led by SHO Altaf Gohar raided the house of his cousin on Sunday night.

“The police took away Rs1.5 million cash along with jewelry without showing any reason of the raid,” he alleged. He explained that when a delegation of elders from the area went to the police station to have the cash and jewelry returned, the SHO registered two cases against them: one of selling narcotics and second regarding gambling.

CPO Israr Ahmad Abbasi assured the protesters that the issue would be investigated and initiated an inquiry into the allegations, he said further.
