Aerial firing: APO succumbs to injuries

PESHAWAR: Assistant presiding officer Shabana Shaheen, a resident of Mohalla Mullah Abdul Sumad, succumbed to her injuries at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Sunday night. Shaheen had been hit by a stray bullet in Gunj area in the city as she was returning from election duty Saturday night. She was later hospitalised. “She was an assistant presiding officer in Gulshan Rehman Colony and succumbed to her injuries at the hospital,” said an officer of Kotwali police station. The officer added an FIR had been registered which states she had been hit by a stray bullet. “She was on her way home and when she reached Gunj some party workers were celebrating and firing in the air,” he added.
