JI chief announces Rs1 billion reward for Modi's arrest

Sirajul Haq says anyone who desires friendship with India without resolution of Kashmir issue is a traitor

RAWALAKOT: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraj-ul-Haq announced on Monday an award for Rs 1 billion for anyone who arrests Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Express News reported.

Speaking in solidarity with Kashmiri leader, Syed Salahuddin, Siraj said, “You [Modi] and your agents cannot arrest Salahuddin. You say whoever arrests him will be rewarded with Rs500 million. I also say that whoever arrests Modi we will give him Rs1 billion.”

Addressing a rally in Azad Kashmir’s Rawalakot area, Siraj said Kashmir was a part of Pakistan and anyone who spoke of friendship with India without resolution of the Kashmir issue was a traitor.

“Those who desire friendship with India can go to Mumbai,” he said. “Our agenda for friendship with India is Kashmir’s independence.”

The JI chief argued that a country could not prosper without an able leadership.

“Either our leaders our blind, deaf and dumb or are in collusion with India,” he said.

He said Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani spent his entire life in jails just because of his love for Pakistan, adding that Kashmiris gave many sacrifices for Pakistan but because of inept leadership, independence of Kashmir has not become possible.

The rulers should have a clear policy towards Kashmir, he added.

globalobserver | 8 years ago | Reply @S.R.H. Hashmi: A very sensible and rational analysis. Pakistan has only been shooting itself in the foot by hanging on to the Kashmir issue. All this approach has harvested for Pakistan is loss of half the country (BD), growing religious terrorism, domestic instability and economic stagnation. As for your comment, *" it is time to improve relations with India and try to use that to bring about significant improvement in the living conditions of Kashmiris in the Indian-held part.", the conditions of Kashmiris in the Indian part is much better than that of Pakistan occupied areas and even the rest of Pakistan. It is time to realize that most Kashmiris want Pakistan to stop pretending that it represents the interests of the Kshmiris. No sane Kashmiri, except the fringe radials Islamist ones, want to ever become part of Pakistan.

The Gujarat massacre was not a terrorist attack that happened in a few seconds, There was a reported mob of more than 5000 RSS, VHP goons going on a rampage for not few hours but for full two days and nights, that could have been stopped after initial few minutes/hours with LEA's, but the army was deliberately called in after two days, and was delayed, called in when they had killed enough people to satisfy their insane ego of hatred, to kill innocent people to one hearts content. Modi was in connivance with the murder and mayhem, what was the reason for him to remain a silent spectator with all the killings going on, unless he was a party to it. Yes, his silence was certainly deafening.

India is no friend of Pakistan and never will be but we are intelligent people and could rebuttal Modi in a saner and intelligent way, The world knows that he has blood on his hands of 2000 Muslims in his home State of Gujarat when he was Chief Minister and that was the reason why he was denied entry into the USA for almost a decade. All we have to do is to bring in his past all the time about the massacre of innocent people under his watch,there is no denying it.

Its true that Kashmir is an issue between Pakistan and India but it can only be resolved with peaceful means. War between two nuclear states is a thing of past. If there had been any possibility of war, our defence societies would have never been built in border areas.

But the truth is that it is ridiculous statements like these that expose the two-faced JI to all. As one of commentators rightly pointed out in above stated comments, these guys need to work for eradicating intellectual and physical terrorism rather than playing childish pranks like arresting Modi. In fact, more and more of students from JI's terrorist wing, the Jamiat, are turning out for Al-Qaeda or ISIS. Hope he realizes his stupidity and never comes up with such ridiculous suggestions again.

Hurting a billion people who has honestly elected a PM is a sin which a pious muslim like him should not be committing. Jamate Islami was always an anti Pakistan party from its inception and all it wants is to destabilize the country and destroy it. No wonder its leaders want war and no peace. So while the rest of the country goes down there and gets destroyed there children go abroad and stay there. We should catch the people who broke our country by making terror groups like al shams and al badr in east pakistan. and give them the same treatment bangladesh has given them. Only then will the country become clean.

Leo. | 8 years ago | Reply @Seadorff: Those militant groups are not under government patronage, Modi has spent 31 years in RSS, with Hindutva teachings which he takes pride in. RSS is under direct patronage of Modi so are many hardliners like VHP and many fringe elements.

atherkhanturi | 8 years ago | Reply if JI wants to help pakistan someway, it should expend all its strength to fight terrorism ideologically in pakistan. it is the ideological, monetary and tactical support of ji and aswj that made the spread of terrorism such a monster. so before talking about arresting modi, he should first look at his own party. we will conquer kashmir only when we destroy the poisonous tree of terrorism inside pakistan.

S.R.H. Hashmi | 8 years ago | Reply Isn’t JI chief Siraj-ul-Haq being too extravagant offering a reward of Rs 1 billion to someone for the mere arrest of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Couldn’t he find some one to do a quick and more durable hatchet job for a much lower sum? However, jokes apart, in the atmosphere where we severely criticize Indian leaders for making offensive statements, was it the right thing to say, and from leader of a party which has nationa-level aspirations? We all know that JI has had the freedom of Indian occupied Kashmir on its agenda for decades but what has it got to show for all these years. The fact is that the dead international conscience, which has been unwilling to solve the Palestine problem is even more unlikely to favour Pakistan and work for the freedom of Kashmiris in the Indian-held part. Also, it is most unlikely that feeling the pinch of conscience, Indian will hand over Kashmir to us. Obviously, no Indian leader could dare to do that. And as for us snatching Kashmir by force from India, even if we made a dash and occupied some part of Indian-held Kashmir, we can not retain its possession as was clearly demonstrated by Kargil case. In any case, with a separatist movement in Balochistan, and militancy and terrorism all over Pakistan, it could hardly be sensible to start a full-scale war with India. Also, we had excellent relations and received utmost cooperation with Iran during King Reza Shah’s time but with the change of regime there, and our heavy tilt towards Saudi Arabia, our relations with Iran are not all that good. In fact, Iran ha signed pacts with India under which Indian forces could use Iranian ports. And our relations with Afghanistan are only improving now with the replacement of Hamid Karzai by President Hamid Ghani and there is not guarantee yet that this improvement will prove permanent. And while we have excellent relations with China, it is also apprehensive of militancy and terrorism in Pakistan. Can we really survive and prosper while annoying just about every one of our neighbours. Please also note that China is obviously a much bigger power than Pakistan and even India. And China also has serious territorial disputes with India and the two countries even fought a brief war over it in which India faced a shameful defeat. Also, with its massive military and financial resources, China is in a much better position to wage a war against India but still it does not let the dispute come in its way and during the recent visit of Narindra Modi to China, gave him a good welcome and signed billions of dollars worth of MOUs. Obviously, as a huge market, India attracts countries both in the East and West. It is said that people ultimately opt for the sensible course after they have tried all other options. Now, it is a fact that in the nearly seven decades of Pakistan’s life, we have tried all alternatives for Kashmir, and have failed bitterly. Isn’t now the time to opt for the sensible course? Having tried the fighting option and failed bitterly, perhaps it is time to improve relations with India and try to use that to bring about significant improvement in the living conditions of Kashmiris in the Indian-held part. After initial outburst of extreme hostility, Narindra Modi is also mellowing down a bit and it is time to give the peace initiative a try. In any case, through imprudent policies, our leaders managed to cut the country into half in a mere 24 years, and we can’t afford any more of that folly. Karachi

Leo. | 8 years ago | Reply Modi was not directly responsible for the killing of more than 2000 innocent people in Gujarat, India, though he was in connivance as he did not used his power as CM Gujarat to stop the massacre for two days...his silence was deafening, so he is responsible in a way...and supported the VHP, RSS goons to kill as many people as possible in the stipulated and given time. This was reported in many independent Media news, but not in any Indian media, of course.
