Punjab MPA killed in Kamoke ambush
Rana Shamshad’s son and associate also died in the attack.

A ruling party legislator in the Punjab Assembly, his son and an associate were killed in an ambush in Kamoke on Sunday, police said.
Gunmen opened fire on the car of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA from PP-100 (Gujranwala-X), Rana Shamshad, while he was returning from his farmhouse, Kamoke Saddar SHO Hameed Virk said.
The lawmaker was travelling with his son Shahbaz, nephew Ali Wakeel and an associate Sheikh Shakeel when the gunmen intercepted his car on GT Road, the officer told The Express Tribune.
“Shamshad and Shakeel died on the spot,” said SHO Virk. “Shahbaz and Wakeel were critically wounded in the ambush. Both of them were driven to the Kamoke tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where Shahbaz was pronounced dead on arrival,” he added.
According to SHO Virk, Wakeel was later referred to a hospital in Lahore for treatment of his life-threatening wounds.
Shamshad was born on May 5, 1965. He was elected to the Punjab Assembly for the fourth time in the May 2013 polls.
