MUMBAI: Deepika Padukone is “blown away” after watching Zoya Akhtar’s film Dil Dhadakne Do, and she is especially impressed by rumoured beau Ranveer Singh’s performance in it.

“And you @RanveerOfficial ...YOU can do THIS ALSO!!?? #incredible! Soo proud of you!( and no...I’m not being biased...Y%Y),” Deepika tweeted after watching the film at a screening here on Thursday. After watching the film, Deepika couldn’t get over it and showered praises on the film. “Can’t get over what I just saw!!! My most awaited film of the year!!!#DilDhadakneDo #5thJune #MustWatch,” she tweeted further.

Dil Dhadakne Do is directed by Zoya Akhtar and it features an ensemble cast including Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar and Shefali Shah, apart from Ranveer. It is about a dysfunctional family on a cruise trip. Every day was like a party on the sets of Zoya Akhtar’s “Dil Dhadakne Do”, but by the end of it, actor Ranveer Singh craved for some “Bhansali action”. He is happy to have worked in Zoya’s style of cinema, which more of “slice of life” and entertaining, but it didn’t give him the opportunity “to scream, to sweat, to lose out voice and all” -- making him miss his Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani director.

“By the end of Zoya’s film, I was like ‘I need to go to Bhansali’ because acting in her (Zoya Akhtar) film is so casual and candid. You are sitting on the sofa and talking... sitting in the bar and talking... if we are walking, then also we are having conversation,” Ranveer said here in an interview.

“So it is a very candid and casual. During the shoot, I had jokingly said to PC (Priyanka Chopra) that ‘I can’t resist myself. I have to go to Bhansali. I want to shout out, do action stuff, do aggressive scenes and cry”... and this is not in Zoya’s films,” Ranveer, who did intense scenes in Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela - Ram Leela, said. While in Zoya’s film Ranveer plays a rich and classy urban guy, in Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, he will be seen as Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao and will also pull off some intense scenes and action. However, Ranveer is happy to work with the two directors “who are poles apart with different styles of acting and filmmaking”. Dil Dhadakne Do is slated to release on June 5.
