FAISALABAD:

Dijkot residents said on Saturday that a security guard had beaten a minor over a petty issue.  Chak 535-GB resident Imran Khan, an uncle of the victim, said Sajawal had requested watchman Sultan Ahmad to let him go home as he had forgotten some of his notebooks.

Khan said Ahmad had slapped Sajawal on hearing his request. He said the watchman had attacked his nephew with a stick after Sajawal asked him why he had slapped him. Khan said Sajawal’s schoolmates had informed his family that the boy had fainted due to the beating. He said Sajawal had come to after the watchman sprinkled some water on his face. Khan said he had then sent him home along with a friend after threatening them of dire consequences if they had the temerity to repeat what had transpired before anyone. He said Sajawal had been taken to a hospital after he complained of severe pain. Khan said the family of the victim had approached the police in vain. He said the watchman had threatened the victim’s family with dire consequences. Dijkot SHO Nasir Nawaz told The Express Tribune that police had not received a complaint of the incident.
