ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad Police have claimed “significant reduction” in crime rate in the capital this year as compared to the corresponding period last year.

“Crime rate has considerably declined due to effective crime control measures, regular vigilance and monitoring,” said a statement.

It said 42 murder cases have been registered in various police stations so far this year compared to 69 cases in the corresponding period of 2104.

The police have registered 15 dacoity cases in 2015 compared to 28 last year and 146 snatching incidents compared to 271 in first five months of 2014. Burglary cases have come down from 176 to 112.

The police claimed that car and bike theft cases have been reduced by 46 and 33 per cent respectively. 198 cases of vehicle theft and 111 of bike theft have been registered in 2015 compared to 355 auto theft and 165 bike theft cases last year.
