Outstanding payments: APNS urges PM to get dues cleared
The APNS Executive Committee authorised the president of the society to take necessary action to recover these dues
KARACHI:
The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) executive committee has taken a very dismal view of the failure of the federal government to honour its verbal and written pledges to clear the reported dues of member publications/advertising agencies despite clear instructions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. According to a statement issued by APNS, the circular debt of media relates to current dues, dues against devolved ministries, ministry of information and broadcasting and invoices relating to the period 2008-2012 duly verified by the PID and APNS. The APNS urged upon the prime minister to get his instructions implemented. The APNS Executive Committee authorised the president of the society to take all necessary action to recover these long outstanding dues, including a nationwide strike and suspension of all government advertisements.
