‘Government committed to overcoming energy crisis’
Funds will be allocated in the upcoming budget for the purpose

Mines and Minerals Minister Sher Ali said on Friday the government was working on generating solar, wind, coal, thermal and hydel electricity.
“Funds will be allocated in the upcoming budget for the purpose,” the minister said at the inauguration of the 4th International EGO Pakistan – Energy, Gas, Oil and Power Exhibition, at Expo Centre.
The Safety and Security Pakistan 2015 Exhibition is part of the three-day event, to be concluded on Sunday. More than 100 companies from 14 countries, including China, Egypt, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the UAE and the US, are participating.
Ali said the Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park, Bahawalpur, had started producing 100 megawatts.
The project would later add 1,000 megawatts to the national grid, he said.
“Events like EGO Pakistan 2015 are the need of the hour. We are seeking help from China, Turkey, Denmark and Germany to generate affordable electricity,” Ali said.
