No casualties: Fire at Civil hospital surgical ward

The incident was apparently due to short-circuit and the exact cause has yet to be ascertained

KARACHI:
A fire broke out in the surgical ward of Civil Hospital, Karachi, on Thursday and was brought under control without any major losses. A hospital spokesperson said the incident was apparently due to short-circuit and the exact cause has yet to be ascertained. Two fire engines arrived soon after being alerted and managed to douse the blaze in little time, he said, adding there were no casualties and no major loss was incurred. Meanwhile, Sindh health minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar constituted a committee, headed by health secretary Riaz Memon, to investigate the issue.
