Rescue-1122 reported on Tuesday to have retrieved the body of a 30-year-old woman lawyer from the Gogera Branch Canal in Jaranwala area.
The Jaranwala SHO told The Express Tribune that Advocate Sajida Manzoor, a resident of Chak 31-GB, had drowned along with 16-year-old Waqas Aslam after the motorcycle they were travelling on had overturned and fallen in the canal on May 23. A Rescue-1122 team had retrieved Aslam’s body from the canal on the same day.
He said Jaranwala Bar Association president Tanveer Akhtar Chaudhry had also arrived at the spot following the incident and urged the team to expedite efforts to trace the body. The team had finally managed to locate and retrieve Manzoor’s body after three days.
