KARACHI: Sindh sports minister Fayaz Ali Butt has said that the Sindh government is making efforts to promote sports in the province by organising festivals and other programmes. The government will support Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) in organising inter-university tournaments and sports festivals on its premises, he promised. “Without sports, we can’t create a healthy and competitive nation,” he said.  Butt said that SMIU was a historic institution where Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah received his early education. Vice-chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh also pointed out that the students had won the Jamshed Nisarwanjee Cup 12 times in 18 years during the cricket matches played between students of SMIU, Karachi Grammar School and NJV School.
