Speakers say it will enable people provide feedback about infrastructure and development

The Local Government (LG) Act 2013 has enabled people to provide feedback about infrastructure and development, stated a press release issued on Tuesday.
Ahmed lauded the efforts of the organisers to ensure that social activists were aware of the salient features of the legislation. He said such initiatives provide an opportunity for district government functionaries and civil society organisations to develop a better understanding of the LG Act. Other speakers at the seminar emphasised fiscal decentralisation will result in efficient and effective decision-making at the grass-roots levels and reduce service delivery gaps.

This was said by DI Khan DC Nisar Ahmed at a seminar on Tuesday to discuss the legislation introduced by the K-P local government department with the support of the Sub-National Governance Programme. According to the press statement, the DC said the local government in DI Khan will have at least 174 local bodies comprising 10 to 15 members each.
