Hazardous travel: 24 including 18 children injured in school bus accident

A Rescue 1122 spokesman says there were 35 passengers from Arifwala in the Lahore-bound bus

Thirty eight people were injured in bus accidents on Sunday.


As many as 18 children were injured when a bus carrying school children on a trip to Lahore overturned near Nathe Khalsa.

A Rescue 1122 spokesman said there were 35 passengers from Arifwala in the Lahore-bound bus. He said an axel of the bus failed and the driver lost control. He said the bus overturned, injuring six teachers – Asim, Ehsan, Farah, Bushra, Shumaila and Shehnaz and 18 children. He said Imran, the driver, was taken to Jinnah Hospital in Lahore where he died.

The spokesman said eight children were provided first aid on the spot. The spokesman said some children were taken to hospitals in Manga Mandi and Phoolnagar.

A Rescue 1122 spokesman said the school administration brought another bus to drop the children home without involving the police.

Separately, some 14 people were injured when the tyre of a Sammi Daewoo bus burst on Saharan-Multan Road. A Rescue 1122 spokesman said the bus overturned, injuring 11 people.

He said three others were given first aid and allowed to go home.
