PESHAWAR:


At least four soldiers were killed and two others injured in a landmine blast in Ghulam Khan tehsil of North Waziristan Agency Saturday morning.


Officials reported that Frontier Corps troops were engaged in a search operation in the Khair Warsak area of Ghulam Khan where they were also scanning the area for landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) left behind by militants.


While trying to defuse a landmine, a huge explosion occurred, killing four soldiers on the spot and injuring two others. The deceased were identified as sepoy Asif, Naik Azanfar, FC Naik Gul Khan and Lance Naik Asif. The injured soldiers – identified as Amir and Nimat – and the bodies were airlifted to the CMH in Bannu.


Soon after the explosion, security forces cordoned off the area and mounted a search operation.
