‘Unfair’ umpiring: Greenshirts leave match unfinished
With only 10 minutes remaining to the final whistle and the game locked at 2-2, the Pakistan hockey team left their third match against Korea unfinished and walked out to protest alleged unfair umpiring on the Koreans’ part.
The Greenshirts refused to continue play after one of the Korean umpires showed a red card to Pakistan’s Muhammad Imran after the captain bickered over a foul.
The second match of the ongoing Test series between the two sides was a similar affair, with the Korean team walking out seven minutes before the game ended to protest the Pakistan umpire’s decision to award the visiting side a penalty corner.
Despite repeated attempts to contact them, the Korean captain and management were unavailable for comment.
