LAHORE:

A consumer court on Friday issued a notice to the owner of a mobile phone shop in a suit seeking Rs100,000 damages over the sale of a defective device.

Petitioner Amanat Ali told the court that he had purchased a mobile set for Rs12,000 from Shehbaz of Shehbaz Mobiles in Hafeez Centre a few months ago.

He said after using the phone for a few days, he noticed that it was not working properly. He said he took the phone over for repair and Shehbaz assured him that it would be fixed.

He said the problem persisted after Shehbaz returned it, saying it had been repaired. He said when he went again, Shehbaz refused to replace it with a new set or to repair it. He asked the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs100,000 in damages over the sale of a defective mobile phone and the mental agony he had suffered as a result.
