ISLAMABAD: Citizens have been warned to beware of women swindlers. An increase in the number of such incidents was recently noticed by city police. The women mostly rob houses under the garb of housemates and fake peers.

On Friday, two women entered a house in Shehzad Town area and told the women of the house that they would double any quantity of gold they possessed. The house occupants succumbed to the tempting promises made by the swindlers and began to give them gold.

Not only did they hand over all the jewellery they were wearing, they even brought out everything they were keeping in a safe. The swindlers made off with almost 60 grams of gold. The victims told the police that the swindlers had done some ‘magic’ to them after which they had voluntarily surrendered the jewellery.

In another recent incident, a woman managed to obtain a job as servant in a house of Shehzad Town. Last month, she made away with Rs100,000 and 168 grams of gold from the safe of
the house.

Islamabad Police have urged citizens to beware of such women who visit houses in various localities and try
to cheat people by enticing them to double their money or jewellery.

Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan said that people should adopt precautionary measures to avoid such mishaps. Female swindlers look for an opportunity to strike and steal the valuables after getting the confidence of the house occupants. In most instances, the swindlers intoxicate or drug the victims.

Capital police have also urged people not to employ servants at their houses without proper identification and registration with local police.
