LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), acting on the directives of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Pakistan Task Team (PTT), has finally appointed a retired judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Jamshed Ali Shah as the head of the Integrity Committee (IC) to ensure a transparent selection process.

He replaces PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt on the post. The ICC special task force for Pakistan had earlier asked the PCB to appoint a retired judge to head the IC for the impartial and transparent selection of players in place of Butt.

Prior to the selection of the national team, the IC would ensure that the players are not involved in any indiscipline. A player will be eligible for inclusion after he has been cleared by the committee.

During the past month, the IC has made various decisions with regards to indiscipline including Kamran Akmal and Danish Keneria’s snub for selection in the forthcoming series of New Zealand and the list of probables for the 2011 World Cup.
