Convocation: Islamabad Model College for Girls confers degrees upon students
Degrees awarded to 212 graduates, 76 post graduates.

ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad Model College for Girls F-7/2 in its 44th convocation conferred degrees on 212 graduates and 76 post graduates. Meanwhile, 69 women made the Roll of Honour were awarded to graduates and post-graduate students for their exceptional performances.
Acknowledging its best performing students in extracurricular activities, the institution rewarded them with the College Best Awards. Whereas, Dr Azra Raza award of Rs 50,000 was given to Urooj Bano for her ‘commendable performance’ in academics. Dr Azra Raza award, a legacy of former student is given to only one student each year.
College Principal Talat Samiullah said that IMCG holds the distinction of being the oldest institution of the federal capital.
She went on to say that the institution was established in 1967 as an intermediate college with 150 students and 15 lecturers and in only half a century the college has expanded its services to more than 4,000 students.
The college now offers degrees in various disciplines such as HSSC humanities and science, Icom Bachelors of arts and science, and masters in applied psychology, Arabic, Islamic studies and economics, Talat added.
Talat also told the audience that their institution has been declared best college of the year for session 2011-2013, along with securing first position in the Inter-board of Gymnastics.
The chief guest, Quaid-e-Azam University Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Ashraf said that he is particularly happy to note that a majority of the faculty members are graduates of Quaid-e-Azam University. He further stressed upon young ladies to adhere to the principle of hard and perseverance and hard work in their practical lives as well.
