Hazara division: Govt allocates Rs4.5b for airport

The airport would be part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

PML-N Youth Wing President Captain (R) Muhammad Safdar on Thursday said the federal government had allocated Rs4.5 billion for the construction of an airport in the Hazara Division under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2014-15. He said this while talking to APP during the inspection of a site for the proposed airport at the Union Council Sawan Maira. He said the airport would be part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and bring a drastic change in the economy, communication, employment and tourism in the area. Giving details of the project, he said Rs1 billion had been allocated for the purchase of 1,000 acres of land, adding the land acquisition process had started and civil works would also begin soon. He said the railway line of the CPEC would also be constructed in this area.
