The special investigation unit (SIU) of the Islamabad Police arrested two alleged members of a gang of car-lifters and recovered a stolen car and three pistols from their possession, a police spokesperson said on Tuesday.


Two persons were arrested red-handed while trying to sell a car stolen from Golra area on May 5 using forged documents, said a police official. A police team nabbed the suspects while acting as potential buyers. During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the men stole cars from the capital and later sold them off illegally in Charsadda, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa after preparing fake documents.

The suspects, identified as Ayaz and Sheeraz, were wanted by police in over five cases of car tempering and theft. The SIU team is conducting raids to arrest other members of the group. SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas said SIU is working to bring down the capital’s crime rate.

ANF nabs six in Pindi, Chakwal

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted an operation against a network involved in supplying drugs to academic institutions of Islamabad and Rawalpindi and apprehended three culprits, identified as Habibullah, Bilal Suleman and Zeeshan Tariq.

The operation also resulted in the recovery of 640 grams of hashish, 85 grams of amphetamine and ecstasy tablets. In a separate case, ANF Rawalpindi team also nabbed two drug peddlers identified as Muhammad Imran and Rehmat, both residents of Attock, and recovered 500 grams of heroin.

They were arrested near the Ghazi Barotha Canal Bridge, Attock while riding on a motorcycle. In another operation, ANF arrested a drug peddler identified as Muhammad Latif along with 500 grams of hashish.

He was arrested while riding a motorcycle near Rawalpindi Phatak, Chakwal. Cases have been registered against all the suspects at the respective police stations and investigations are under way.
