Negligence: Case sought against Fire Brigade, Rescue officials
The house went up in flames on Sunday due to an electric short circuit
LAHORE:
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah will hear an application on Tuesday (today) seeking action against Rescue-1122 and the Fire Brigade for their alleged failure to save six children trapped in a fire at a house in Shershah, Shadbagh. The house went up in flames on Sunday due to an electric short circuit. Judicial Activism Panel chairman Muhammad Azhar Siddique filed the application saying that the government had spent billions on metro bus and other infrastructure projects but had failed to improve the Fire Brigade and ambulances. The petitioner said that the government’s failure to protect the lives of citizens was a violation of Article 9 of the Constitution. He said a case should be registered against officials of Rescue-1122 and the Fire Brigade.
