FAISALABAD:

Scores of residents of Jameel Town on Monday protested against a doctor, alleging that he had administered a lethal injection to a man from their neighbourhood.

The protesters gathered at Chhatri Wala Chowk and blocked the intersection for traffic.

Asim Shafiq, one of the protesters, said Muhammad Ramazan had visited Ashfaq’s clinic with abdominal pain. He said Ashfaq administered him an injection. He said a few minutes later, Ramazan fainted. “We told Ashfaq that Ramazan needed help but he advised us to wait till he regained consciousness,” he said. “We waited for some time and then realised that he had died,” he said.

The protesters said they then put the body on the road and chanted slogans against the doctor and urged police to arrest him. The Ghulam Muhammadabad SHO met the protesters and assured them that the doctor would be investigated and taken to task in accordance with law.

The protesters dispersed following this assurance.
