According to the ECP, the exercise for inclusion of new voters and exclusion of disqualified one from the electoral rolls will continue till May 21.
Earlier in March the Supreme Court ordered the ECP to hold local government elections in Islamabad. The date for the local government election has been fixed for July 25 and ECP has decided to initiate arrangement for inclusion of names of new Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) holders entitled to be enrolled as voters so no new CNIC holder is deprived from exercising his or her right to cast the ballot. Similarly, ECP intends to exclude voters who have become disqualified due to death, nationality surrender, or a cancelled CNIC.
According to the ECP, lists of additions and deletions are being displayed in the offices of registration officer, and all assistant registration officers. Voters can also check their voting details by sending their CNIC number to 8300 through an SMS from their mobile phone.
The centres where voters’ lists have been displayed include the offices of the DEC/registration officer Islamabad at 14 GM Almarkaz F-8, principal model school for boys Khana Nai Abadi, area education officers of Bhara Kahu, Panj Garan on Lehtrar Road, Nilore, Sihala and Tarnol. The lists are also on display at the principals’ offices of the model college for boys Simly Dam Road, model school for boys Mughal, model school for boys Jhang Syedan, model college for boys Tarnol, IMS boys Golra, model school for boys F-8/2, model school for boys F-6/2, model school for boys Noor Pur Shahan, model school for boys G-6/2, model college for boys G-7/4, model school G-8/1, model school for boys G-9/1, model school for boys I-9/4, model school for boys, I-10/2 and model school for boys (6th to 10th) G-10/3.
