Increasing funds from Rs30 million to Rs60 million
ISLAMABAD:
The Higher Education Commission has decided to double grants for research programmes increasing funds from Rs30 million to Rs60 million to encourage work over contemporary issues. Social sciences, a neglected area, has witnessed a shift in a focus by HEC, as pressing issues and research of the society demand more attention to the faculty. HEC chief Dr Mukhtar Ahmed announced the plan to double the funding under HEC’s Thematic Research Grants Programme on Thursday at the closing ceremony of the two-day 3rd International Social Sciences Conference held at HEC Secretariat. According to HEC’s web portal of the programme, research scholars who have theoretical, conceptual, methodological and policy orientation background may apply for grants under the programme.
