Quality control: Chief secy to head committee on substandard meat
The chief minister ordered a province-wide crackdown.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday that sale of substandard and unhygienic meat would not be tolerated.
He said those found involved in the trade would be dealt with an iron hand.
He was presiding over a meeting via video link at Civil Secretariat. The chief minister ordered a province-wide crackdown.
The chief minister ordered digital mapping of slaughter houses in the province. Sharif directed that a committee be set up, headed by the chief secretary, to tackle this issue.
He said legislation declaring sale of substandard meat a non-bailable offence should be drafted.
He said it was unfortunate that sale of dead animals meat had gone unnoticed.
Sharif also order action against the use of hospital waste in animals feed.
Minister for Food Bilal Yasin, Livestock Special Assistant Arshad Jutt, MPAs Waheed Gul, Muhammad Kashif and Naeem Safdar Ansari were also present.
CM calls on Governor
Chief Shahbaz Sharif called on Governor Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana at the Governor’s House on Friday.
The governor said the federal government was committed to lifting living standards of the people.
He said ensuring education and health facilities for the people was his priority. He said several new projects had been lined up in this regard.
He said the government would focus on south Punjab and develop districts of the area under an urban development policy.
He said the economy was strengthening and international investors were showing confidence in the country.
The chief minister said the $46 billion agreement with the Chinese government showed that the Chinese trusted the government of Pakistan. Sharif congratulated Rajwana on assuming responsibilities as the governor. He said several development projects had been planned for south Punjab.
