Two bombs went off in Lakki Marwat and Bajaur Agency while another attempt to blow up a bridge in Bannu was averted on Friday. A boy was injured while three men were taken into custody.

A student of class nine was injured when a bomb planted in a flask went off in Wanda Baghbanan, Lakki Marwat.
According to a police officer, Abdullah was on his way to Kurram River to swim when he found a flask.
“He picked it up and tried to open it,” he said. “The flask exploded, leaving the boy injured.” He added residents rushed to the site and took Abdullah to a hospital.
“He has been referred to a hospital in Bannu and is in critical condition,” added the officer.
Police launched a search operation but no arrests were made till the filing of this report. This is the fifth incident of this kind recently to take place in the district. Police registered an FIR and started investigation.
No casualties
Two rooms of a shrine in Arang in Utmankhel tehsil, Bajaur Agency were destroyed when an explosive planted by unidentified militants went off Friday morning.
An official of the political administration said the device is believed to have been planted outside Ghazi Baba shrine on Thursday night.
“It went off at 6am,” he said. “No casualties have been reported.”
Following the incident, political administration officials launched a search operation in the area. However, no arrests were made till the filing of this report. No one has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Terror averted
Officials of the counter-terrorism department (CTD) arrested two suspected militants on Friday for attempting to plant a bomb near a bridge in Shahdev, Bannu.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, CTD DSP Tahir Shah said officials were informed that two suspicious-looking people at Lowara Pul. The CTD personnel immediately rushed to the site. “Both men saw the officials and tried to escape,” Shah said. “However, they were eventually arrested.”
Two pistols, a canister filled with explosives, a detonator and a remote control were seized from their possession.
During initial investigation, the suspects were identified as Abdul Qadir, an Afghan national, and Abdul Majeed, a resident of Bara, Khyber Agency. According to the DSP, both men were planning to blow up Lowara Pul.
In custody
Separately, CTD arrested a militant in Hangu. CTD Hangu In charge DSP Taj Malook said Noor Saeed, an alleged militant who hails from Orakzai Agency and lives in Hangu, was taken into custody.
“Saeed was wanted by the police for his involvement in various attacks in Hangu and the tribal belt,” he added.
