Stamp of approval: ICU’s academic managers welcome universities act
AMA President said the senate and syndicate of the university had accounted for interests of all major stakeholders
PESHAWAR:
Islamia College University’s Academic Managers Association (AMA) lauded the recently introduced universities act as a means of improving academic environment at public sector universities, stated a press release.
This was said at a meeting of AMA at the university on Friday. During the meeting, AMA President Amir Izhar said the senate and syndicate of the university had accounted for the interests of all major stakeholders. Furthermore, these bodies had ensured the government took their recommendations into consideration when drafting the legislation.
“A balance has been achieved in the senate and syndicate,” stated the press release. It added, “This shows the government is keen on promoting education and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Universities (Amendment) Act 2015 is a university-friendly legislation.”
The AMA president urged Ghani to make suitable arrangements to safeguard the rights of employees who had been hired on a contractual basis by offering them permanent positions at the university.
According to the press release, the law has introduced a suitable service structure which will resolve all problems related to promotions.
