Miandad urges PM to take action against Shaikh
PCB governing board member insulted legendary cricket Majid Khan during an interview.

Legendary batsman Javed Miandad has urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is also the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) patron-in-chief, to take strict action against the head of the PCB’s domestic cricket committee and president of the Islamabad Regional Cricket Association (IRCA), Shakil Shaikh, after he passed derogatory remarks against former great Majid Khan.
Majid, who is a global icon and is known as one of the most dignified cricketers in Pakistan’s history, was repeatedly called a ‘duffer’ by Shaikh during an interview on a private channel.
“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who himself is an avid cricket fan, should take notice of the derogatory remarks Shaikh made against someone of Majid’s calibre,” Miandad told The Express Tribune. “It hurt me to the core to hear a non-cricketer calling a great servant of Pakistan cricket a ‘duffer’. Majid is no small fish; he isn’t only respected in Pakistan but also renowned globally.”
The 68-year-old Majid represented Pakistan in 63 Tests, scoring 3,931 runs at an average of 38.92, which included eight centuries and 19 fifties, while he also picked up 27 wickets during his career spanning from 1963 to 1983.
Additionally, he scored 786 runs in 23 ODIs at an average of 37.42 with help of a century and seven fifties.
