Natasha Kundi becomes first Pakistani blogger to officially cover Cannes Fashion Festival 2015
Fifty bloggers were shortlisted from a pool of 900 applicants, Natasha being one of them
KARACHI:
Fashion blogger Natasha Kundi has become the first Pakistani blogger to officially cover the Cannes Fashion Festival 2015. She is one of 50 bloggers shortlisted from a pool of 900 to cover one of the most prestigious events of the year.
"I will be covering the event live from Cannes on my blog and social media," Natasha told The Express Tribune. "It is an honor that I have been selected out of 900 applicants, one of the lucky ones to score official accreditation globally," she added.
The Cannes International Film Festival is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres from around the world. Founded in 1946, it is one of the most prestigious and publicised film festivals in the world.
"I will be heading over to Cannes, taking photos and providing an insight into the entire event and hopefully posting backstage interviews with the world’s hottest designers and models," wrote the excited fashion blogger on her blog after being selected to cover the event.
She is thrilled to represent Pakistan and said, "Being a proud Pakistani, I own and take pride in my Pakistani roots." She has been featured in Cannes Fashion Festival Official Bloggers website.
The festival has embraced a growing trend in the industry by inviting bloggers to apply for accreditation, as well as the traditional print and film media.
The 50 fashion bloggers who have been shortlisted to attend the ongoing event will also be asked to judge the designer showcases.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Festival spokesman Marc Ziegler said the response was overwhelming, with more than 900 applicants. "Fashion blogging is creating a new era of influencers," he said. "Now, 'regular' people from all over the world are becoming big voices in fashion."
"The Cannes Fashion Festival is targeted to the final consumer, people who love, buy and wear fashion. And we think it's important that the people who stay on top of all the latest fashion trends and fashion news around the world should have their say," he added.
The invitation-only festival is held annually at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.
