LAHORE:
The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and the Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) will hold ceremonies on Wednesday (today) to commemorate the journalists who had struggled for the freedom of press under military regimes. PFUJ president Rana Azeem and general secretary Amin Yousaf said the union was committed to continuing the legacy of those who had worked for the freedom of press. “Our senior colleagues Masudullah Khan, Nasir Zaidi, Iqbal Jafferi and Khawar Naeem Hashmi braved oppression. It is our duty to pay tribute to our heroes and follow in their footsteps,” Azeem and Yousaf said in a statement. The PUJ will arrange a ceremony at Aiwan-i-Iqbal.
